Winter Survival
Winter Survival
Description (IGDB)
Winter Survival is a story-driven survival game where trauma turns reality into a reflection of your breaking mind. Battle cold, hunger, hallucinations, and adapt to the wilderness as it adapts to you.
Histoire (IGDB)
What was supposed to be a nice winter hike in the Mount Washington State Park with friends, turned into a dire situation. You are left alone to fight for your survival. With only marginal supplies you have to fight off of the cold, thirst, hunger, wildlife and your own state of mind while finding your way to an abandoned ranger station in hope to be able to call for help. Winter Survival is a fully fledged survival game even going into Early Access, with dynamic combat, stealth, base building and its unique sanity system just to name a few. Multiple game modes and difficulties allow you to experience the game differently and tailor it to your taste. Venture through snow-covered forests, mountains, and frozen lakes. Grapple with treacherous terrain, deadly animals, and harsh winter conditions. Find shelter, cook meals, and rest, ready to face the next day. Hope it won’t be your last… You are not the first person to visit this area. There have been many before you. More than a century ago some even lived here. If you explore your surroundings you may find things they left behind that will still be useful to you. Explore various areas and discover their story, like a town built by people who are long gone. Force open doors, avoid traps, and make abandoned structures work again. Find personal belongings as you dive deeper into the town’s past. Will you be able to uncover its secrets? Cold, thirst, hunger and physical as well as mental exhaustion are the five major factors you have to worry about. It doesn’t however end there. Injuries and sickness are other factors and then there is the weather. Spending the night in the freezing cold without any shelter is akin to a death sentence and trying to go out in a snow storm isn’t any better either. Don’t forget, weather in the mountains changes quickly and is unpredictable. Further variety comes in with our event system where random events can save your day unexpectedly or make the nightmare even worse. Things do not have to be that bleak or stay that way all the time. The adaptation system allows you to open up new survival skills and strengthen your abilities. And then there is our unique sanity system to make things really interesting… The most deviant enemy in a desolate land, is one’s mind. In Winter Survival you will experience an unforgiving world where it’s hard to distinguish reality from madness, due to the unique sanity system. In reality, your mind becomes a problem way sooner than starvation. It starts with fatigue symptoms, losing your will to continue the struggle up to imagining things and even full blown hallucinations. Fear and the stress associated with it form another layer that can influence your perception and together all these factors make for a highly interesting and different survival experience. Hunt or be hunted. Use the environment to your advantage. Observe your prey, study its behaviour, make and set traps to capture animals. Craft torches to scare away wolves. Make spears to throw at prey and protect yourself from apex predators that surround the area. Given limited resources, think twice before starting a fight. A bear is a mighty predator and going against one with a knife or even a spear might not be the brightest idea. Maybe avoiding the danger or sneaking past a potential encounter is the smarter choice given the circumstance? Gather resources, learn how to craft all sorts of useful things and build shelters and other structures to escape everyday struggles. Some resources are easy to find, some are only available in certain areas, others have to be gained from hunting and some are left behind by those before you. The extended crafting system ranges from simple campfires to cook food to building entire shelters and protective structures wherever you please. It is the crafting and building system that will allow you to slowly transition from unbearable danger to a more manageable environment - if you prepare properly. It is up to you how you want to play the game and we give you 3 different modes to choose from: Story Mode: Learn more about yourself and people long gone while you struggle to survive. Find your friends and get back home. Coldwave: Risk your life in an ultimate survival experience. Brave the elements of an ever-changing weather and see how far you can go before the wilderness claims you. Endless Mode: Take advantage of more resources and crafting options as you try to conquer the world around you. Start and proceed how you want.

A SUIVRE !!!

Game Update #13 is here!
Hello Survivors! We’ve just deployed a new update to address several issues you’ve reported. A huge thank you to everyone who has been sharing their feedback and submitting bug reports. Here is the full list of changes in today’s patch: Bugfixes: Fixed an issue where Spool in the Harbour area would not be interactable when moving more than 350 yards away from it, which would make the Motive & Escape quest uncompleteable. Fixed an issue where Bear Armour would mysteriously disappear from your inventory, and re-added it in case it was gone. Minor adjustments to Bear's behaviour, which should cause him to get stuck less often while doing his patrols. Fixed an issue where save sizes would duplicate multiple times when placing Decorative Bouquets, causing long load times and performance problems. This should apply retroactively, so once you load the game and save next time, the save should be smaller from that point onwards. Fixed an issue where you could Faint - press escape, reset your character and prevent fainting, as this could lead to bad character states or odd repeated faint loops. Fixed being able to get achievements that could not be attained before (Survivor Extreme, Wolf Lord, Fire is SCARY!, Level 40, 50, 60 in Survival mode. The levelling ones are also retroactive, so if you load a game where your level is proper, it should trigger.) Fixed an issue where some inputs would not work correctly as expected after eating a food that has an animation every second time you ate, due to wrongly giving back input contexts in a different order/priority than they were removed. (For example, after eating some food that had an animation every second time you ate, it would prevent Trolley from being able to use a handbrake when being driven or generally any keys that have multiple uses could have issues.) Crash Fixes: Fixed a crash that could happen when a player tried to sprint when Fatigue just ran out. Fixed a crash on an animal where a Bleed from spear or trap would still try to change stats on an animal that no longer existed. Fixed a crash on an animal trying to reach a point that no longer existed. Fixed a crash on an animal trying to spawn bleeding decals on the floor on game load before its components were fully initialised. Fixed a crash on dismantling structures. Fixed various crashes related to multiple UI widgets not being cleaned up properly after they were no longer relevant. (Compass markers primarily.) General: Renamed the Thatch building set to Branch to more accurately match the visuals of the building. Various localisation fixes. 🤝 Join the Community:Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/dragoent X: https://x.com/DragoEnt Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dragoentertainment YouTube: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Fans of simulation and management gameplay should definitely check out Gas Station Simulator. State of the Game
The big question in the room is what’s happening with Winter Survival? Let’s have a closer look. Finishing Winter Survival and bringing it to full release took a lot more manpower than we initially anticipated. These additional developers have been drawn from other projects at our studio, which has caused delays on these projects. What we had to do now is draw resources from Winter Survival to at least soften the delays of our simulator projects. Considering the sales of the game are rather lackluster, it was the only responsible decision we could have made at this point. That does, however, not mean we have given up on Winter Survival, but rather putting any further plans on hold for the time being. That does not mean nothing will happen. Mercus, the lead programmer of the game, took it upon himself to continue part-time and especially in his spare time to work on the game to fix some of the issues and implement a quality-of-life change here and there. So there will be occasional updates to the game, but please do not expect anything regular or frequent. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/38695406/8a598e1c53aabedbadbddb58b0f46dfdec79bee1.png There will also be no content updates this year. We simply do not have resources for that at this moment. What we are continuing to do, though, is look at your feedback. There are already some nice ideas that could be accomplished within reasonable resources, so we are saving those for the future. And that’s something we want to have another look at towards the end of the year when our simulator projects are released and we might find ourselves in the situation, where some of the developers could return to Winter Survival. We would also really, really like to get Winter Survival fully certified for Steam Deck, so we are still planning working on it, just now right now. Also, the next update will drop within a week, but will let you know the exact date when internal testing has been completed.
