Toy Soldiers: War Chest
Toy Soldiers: War Chest
Description (IGDB)
Toy Soldiers: War Chest is similar to the previous games where players prevent enemy units from reaching the toybox by building and upgrading turrets. In War Chest, turrets can be improved by upgrading armor, fire rate and damage separately. The enemy AI is improved as well. For example destroying a bridge will cause ground units to take a different path to the toybox. Certain units have the ability to heal nearby units and some will focus on destroying any placed turrets. Barrages and playable units from Toy Soldiers: Cold War returns with a few changes. Instead of earning killstreaks or destroying a specially marked enemy unit, the game uses a bar that fills up when killing enemy units. When the bar is filled to a certain amount, a special ability can used to call in barrages or spawn a hero unit such a zeppelin that performs a bombing run. The game features 4 highly customizable armies (8 in Hall of Fame Edition). Players can choose which turrets to deploy, barrages and modify the hero's arsenal. As the game progresses, new customization options will become available. The Hall of Fame Edition features four additional licensed armies based on fictional characters. This includes Duke and Cobra Commander from G.I. Joe, Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin's Creed and He-Man from Masters of the Universe. The characters can be purchased separately or as a bundle on the standard version.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« The interactivity and flow of the game make it so much more fun to play than you typical defense game that even non fans will find something to like here. »
« A refreshingly simple 3D tower defense game. It blends the strategy of building and upgrading your units with action-packed third-person shooting, and the result is unadulterated mayhem with a lot of visual charm. »
« There’s a lot to enjoy here in a well-rounded package, with plenty of replay value thanks to the range of different heroes, collectibles and high-scores to aim for, as well as the online and offline multiplayer options. »
« While War Chest could've used better matchmaking with player match-ups and a little more variety with battle missions, it's still a fun trip through kiddie nostalgia, especially if you double down on the Hall of Fame Edition and pit G.I. Joe against He-Man. I mean, who doesn't want to see that battle happen?! »
« Even without multiplayer, though, there’s a good 20-plus hours of action packed into this fun little childhood throwback – more than enough to keep strategy fans occupied until the end of the summer. »
« I really loved battling through the various maps and tackling a pretty difficult campaign. On top of that, there are more than a few ways to replay it and one mode designed to have you checking in every day, which is something that isn’t outside of the realm of possibility given how much I liked it. »
« Once again, Signal Studios have succeeded in making a game that combines in a perfect way three genres in one enjoyable experience. It has its flaws in some aspects like in its online mode or presentation, but overall, it offers a really entertaining title that fans of strategic action and tower defense games should try it at least once. »
« An entertainingly substantial, if simplistic take on tower defence warfare, Toy Soldiers War Chest’s thrills are prominent, yet a little dulled by some technical issues and a needlessly greedy pricing model. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« The game's unplayable. After you do the tutorial, the menu freezes permanently. There is no fix. Even if you reinstall the game, it will not work. This bug has existed since 2015 and will effect everyone who attempts to play this at some point. »
« This game would probably be an 7 or 8, but.... For LOCAL coop, the first player has to have a Uplay account and a PS+ account! It's not online. The other big problem is that the DLC character can only be played by the account which owns them, not the second player. This is simply unaccaptable. »
« This game has great concept but lackluster delivery in every way. In typical Ubisoft fashion the game is full of bugs and non-working parts. Characters feel cheap and slapped together, and views are often problematic especially when zooming in to targets at a distance. All hero/toy options are the same just with different skins and animations and overall the game just feels like one big money grab.I truly hope a developer takes this idea and creates what this game should be but this one here is a disappointment. Had this game not come with so many issues it would be an ok buy for young kids but even then the price is completely unjustified. This is a game that should be free so I don't suggest buying this at all. »
« This game is a blast to play on the couch with the kids. It has the feel of old school gaming and has plenty of options of how to play. Each character has a unique arsenal at his or her disposal and the battlefields are each unique in their own way. You can go it solo, or vs each other. The level up system for your units in play keeps it interesting and tense as wave after wave of enemy move to take your toybox. It is silly and a good time. The addition of the GI JOE and COBRA, HE MAN, ASSASSINS CREED is welcome. This is a family fun kind of **** you expect more go elsewhere. Well done. »
« Mais do mesmo. Parece a continuação da versão anterior com uma melhora aquí e acolá. Até alguns chefões são iguais como o trem por exemplo. O que melhorou um pouco é o gráfico e algumas jogabilidades. Até interessante, mas nada em especial. »
« A good game spoiled by bad business practices. This is a fun game, it brings back the fun from cold war, but if you buy the "hall of fame edition" (aka complete game) don't expect to play it entirely with your family or friends in the same room, because only the account that redeemed the dlc code or bought it from psn will be able to access all the armies, even if you play offline, in splitscreen. »
« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »
« For me it's an 8 game but.... The only person who can use all the characters is the one using my profile. -2 Bugs, bugs, bugs -1 Annoying turrets sounds -1 It is a fun game but..... »
