The creatures of the Downbelow!
Hi Tamers! As the week ends, we return to share more info about the next game in the Temtem series, Temtem: Pioneers. The Downbelow has been inhabited from way before you accidentally landed here, and so the life of these Temtem is very different to their counterparts up in the Airborne Archipelago. As the newcomer, it’s up to you to adapt to them, but you’ll soon discover this is going to be a piece of cake. Untamed Tems in the Downbelow have different sets of stats, just like the ones from the Archipelago, but down here they also come in a variety of sizes. Will you be looking for the big ones or for the itty-bitty ones? Each Temtem species displays different behaviors, with some being timid and completely harmless, to some that only seek to defend themselves when attacked, to the fierce ones who will attack on sight. One thing is certain: the Tems you find in the wild won’t go quietly into your TemCard, but once they become your partners, a new world of interaction will open for you: to start off strong, you’ll be able to pet All Of Them. Let me repeat that: all Temtem in the Downbelow can be pet! Enjoy the cutest side of your favorite Tems by showering them with affection. They will also help you gather resources, rest with you in your home, and some can even become your mount to go places quicker! Temtem in the Downbelow can also breed to create offspring with improved stats! Like we mentioned in the Combat and Mount updates, your goal is to have the best stats possible in your Tems. There will be many ways to approach this, and breeding better offspring is one of them. While this system is still not fully defined, we can already tell you that it is planned to be much kinder and simpler than its Temtem version, so that better results can be obtained with less effort and meticulous planning. I know you’re all very eager to know if your favorite Tems are in the Downbelow, and we’re here to clear those doubts. We’ve already talked about how Digital Tems will not be in the Downbelow, since they are man-made creations and the technology doesn’t exist in this untouched world. The same goes for Anahir and Anatan. Having been engineered in the Archipelago, they won’t be around the Downbelow either. As for the three breathtaking Mythical Temtem, they are tied to their roots in the Archipelago and so will remain in their unique lairs on the floating isles. Other than these exceptions, every Temtem from the original game will be making a return in Temtem: Pioneers! To all our Temtem Tamers who’ve loved these Tems before, you’ll now be able to see them from all angles and sides. Discover all the hidden charms from the Temtem you already know and love, and enjoy a new generation of Tems to discover, pushing the total to over 200 Temtem in the Downbelow! We hope you’re eager to step foot into this brave new world, Tamers! And if you can, add Temtem: Pioneers to your Steam or EGS wishlist! It's the next best thing after backing the campaign :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/2961930/Temtem_Pioneers/ Until then, have fun and Temtem up!
Take your Tems for a stroll: Mounts in Temtem: Pioneers!
Hello, Tamers! It's our weekly date with the Downbelow, and today we're talking mounts! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/20a391e8ec7524746bad58e7519c8dc30369bf51.png Since we reached the Stretch Goal for the improved mount system with the help and support from all our Backers, here’s an extra-long update talking about the Mount system, how it was originally planned and how reaching the Stretch Goal positively influenced it. It’s a really interesting update with a couple of desired surprises, so we hope you’ll read it in full! The Downbelow is huge, and although you can absolutely go exploring on foot, why not let your Temtem partners help you along? Mounts are, as the name suggests, Temtem you can ride on to go further, faster, and in better company. Our original idea was to have 12 Temtem mounts, 3 for each type of terrain. Now, thanks to you, we’re doubling that number and creating mounts that are mixed-terrain. The terrain issue is pretty simple: you wouldn’t take your Chimurian swimming, right? For now, the categories for mounts are: running, gliding, climbing and swimming. Every mount was meant to pertain to a certain type of terrain, and to carry the player across specific types of landscape. But now, thanks to Backers smashing this Stretch Goal, we’ll get to work on mounts that can take you across multiple kinds of terrain! A package deal, if you will! Some running mounts that you’ve already seen include Chimurian and Momo, and you’ve also seen the Gliding Wiplump and Drackle. But did you know Osukai can carry you to the top of some mountains and cliffs? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/05721380b85c39df2bc9a3807fffe7674e44cb47.png Early exploration of the Osukai Mount And can't you imagine Piraniant taking you across huge lakes and bodies of water? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/628939edcbabdf4c7d487f4ddabad1e159aae897.png Early exploration of the Piraniant Mount Just like different Mounts are suited for different terrain, the Temtem species of your mount plays a role in its performance. Faster species, like Chimurian, make for faster mounts than slower Tem species, like Wiplump. But since we reached the Stretch Goal, we’re ready to add another layer to it: stat-based mount performance! A Temtem’s stats will influence their performance after they’re converted into a mount. Higher stats will help them run faster, glide longer, or climb faster and for longer periods. To give you a practical example, a base Chimurian will always be faster than a base Wiplump, but a Chimurian with higher SPD stat will be faster than the base Chimu. These stat-based changes work on an individual level, specific to each unique Tem, while the preset values of speed affect the entire species. A Temtem mount that comes from a fast species can become an authentic powerhouse of speed with the right Temtem stats! In contrast with the original Temtem game, where Mounts were a separate item, in Temtem: Pioneers your own Tems become your mounts. To transform a battling Temtem into a traveling mount Temtem, you attach a saddle to it. We’re still not final on the details about saddles, but the gist of it is that you will craft them and attach them to a Temtem to turn it into a Mount. Pretty easy, right? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/48d1a65e581359eb57b0b5de2628bd9c13e87a9e.jpg Early exploration of the Wiplump Mount But one of the biggest perks of your own Temtem becoming your mount is that now, thanks to thie Stretch Goal, your mounts can be Luma! All you have to do is select your differently-flavored Temtem, attach the Saddle unto them, and bam, Luma Mount! We can't stop recommending you all join our Discord server because it's fun and full of great people, and you can ask questions to us devs! And if you can, add Temtem: Pioneers to your Steam wishlist! We hate to ask but it does help us a lot! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2961930/Temtem_Pioneers/ Now, let's saddle up and Temtem up! Yeeehaw!
Let's go for a walk through the Downbelow!
Hello, Tamers! Today it’s time to take a closer look at the biomes in Temtem: Pioneers. Let’s go on a little trip! Biomes are the different areas you can find in the Downbelow, each with their distinct themes, vibes and Temtem population. Like we told you in a previous update, the world of the Downbelow has been carefully crafted by hand, and each biome has been planted with intent and careful consideration. Here are some initial concept pieces of a couple of biomes! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/04ab3ad2853ac6853482b94c94d8fb52093b77a9.png Recognize this one? You've seen it often! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/ab6f35f6d896806756943448ae94ecbc7bc26a21.png Remember how 🌋 was our official icon for the tease period? Some biomes stand on their own, but other biomes, like the Crystal biome, live inside others. Like in any living world, as you naturally explore the Downbelow you will come across different biomes; they’re so unique that it’ll sometimes feel like you’re stepping into a different world! Each biome has distinctive special effects that help consolidate its vibes, like fireflies, fog, or bioluminescent flora. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/a62adbc72d9328d58daa49474c7b9d4087fb9b6c.png You’ll find a huge variety of Temtem species in each biome: even in the most distinct biomes, you’ll be able to find a variety of Tems and types. Although there will definitely be an overarching theme and type, we wanted to have a very lively world, and one where players aren’t forced to limit their searches to small zones or areas. The day to night cycle in Temtem: Pioneers can also be felt in each biome! The day-night cycle in Pioneers is a bit special, as it's determined by the rotation of the Pansun and its plaques. This means that while it's daylight in some of the biomes, others are already clocked in the dark of night, both at the same time. You and a co-op partner could be experiencing different times, and that'll be normal! Apart from changing the entire vibe of the biome and making it look different and beautiful, the Temtem that spawn in it will change depending on the time of day. Spend time in each biome to enjoy it in all its glory! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/48ce8b873d4fe06e72c3eec0a78768eceb7c2e84.png Inside each biome you’ll also find Landmarks, which are special places that hold significance. It might be a quest point, a spot where specific Temtem flock, a place to gather specific resources, or a beautifully decorated area to take pictures in. Since there are no forced sleep mechanics in Temtem: Pioneers, you’re free to go exploring the world as far as your quest progress will let you. Remember that, as we told you in a previous update, some biomes are protected by fierce bosses, and only after defeating them and finding certain resources can you progress and discover the biome they guard. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46072883/9eab7d3df89ce6c490b4df5bab8006aa7104729b.jpg That’s it for our little excursion, but we’ll be back next week with more info and first-looks into Temtem Pîoneers! Remember to wishlist if you can, and have a great weekend! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2961930/Temtem_Pioneers/
