Description (IGDB)

The single-player puzzle levels in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz have been designed to challenge gamers' skills like never before. For the first time in the Super Monkey Ball franchise, AiAi and his friends have the ability to jump when players flick the Nintendo Wii controller in an upward motion. The ability to jump has given game designers another dimension in which to expand the Super Monkey Ball gameplay experience and allows gamers a whole new way to interact with the franchise; this time in true three-dimensional fashion. The Party Games return with more variety than ever. An abundance of new Party Games have been designed to take advantage of the Wii controller in a multitude of ways. Gamers find themselves competing in a traditional game of ring toss, or even smacking pesky moles in a game of "Whack-a-Mole."

Games Master UK 86/100

« Top single-player action, and multi-player that exploits the Wii controller brilliantly. [Christmas 2006, p.72] »

PGNx Media 86/100

« It’s a great showcase for the unique capabilities of the Wii and an undoubtedly fun game on its own. »

eToychest 86/100

« Although not all aspects of the game are as well developed as others, Banana Blitz's lively atmosphere, combined with its tight controls, challenging gameplay, and tons of replay value make it an easily recommendable title for any Wii owner looking for an original experience on their new console. »

netjak 86/100

« A number of excellent minigames keep the game enjoyable long after finishing the main game. »

Nintendo Power 85/100

« All in all, Banana Blitz is an amazingly robust package and a fantastic showcase for the hardware. [Jan. 2007, p.112] »

IGN 84/100

« If you've been on the fence about the Wii controls, put those fears to rest. True, there is a different technique involved, but once you get the hang of it you will be flying through levels with precision and speed. Now that I've played through Banana Blitz, I would not want to go back to the older control configurations. »

Nintendo Gamer 84/100

« A party game that does a lot more than most to show off the possibilities of the controller, and a set of one-player levels that will enthrall, frustrate and capture your attention every bit as much as the previous Monkey Ball games did. [January 2007, p.47] »

N-Insanity 84/100

« A great launch title for the Wii. It demonstrates the Wii’s controls perfectly, even though it goes a bit over the top in the mini-games. »

« The first time ever that super monkey ball put boss in this game fifty party games evening though that half of them are good and bad they are still good to play! »

« I wanted to like this game, I really did. I tried to play the main mode, where you use the gyroscope on the wii controller for tilting the ball. For some odd reason, they had us hold the Wii Remote like a TV remote, instead of the way that one would hold it for Mario Kart. This is a problem, as this makes it hard to control, and the controls are overly sensitive. I flailed all over the place. The first 3 levels were way too easy, and then when any hazard came in, everything when whack. The same can be said in the mini-games. This game has some really good elements to it, and I really like certain mini-games and stages, but overall, this game is bad. Not because it has horrible content, but because of a challenging controlling method, and the oversensitivity of the controls in most games make it almost impossible to navigate. »

« It is certainly a very funny game with a nice level design. However, it can become really frustating sometimes and this is what made me play this game intermittently rather than focus on it almost exclusively. But I think it has more positive than negative points and is very challenging. »

« This game is complete ****, The controls don’t **** work; it says to do one thing and when I do them the game does the opposite of what it’s suppose to do. A TOTAL **** WASTE OF MY MONEY! »

MrTacoBob 8/10

« For it's take on the Wii it does decent. The motion controls are mediocre but the game is still playable. Still a fun game but the series is getting a bit stale. »

GamecubeLover 9/10

« This game isn't as good as 1 and 2 but still are amazing. The mixed reviews I don't get. I love this game and people hate it for what reason? I think they just hate the gameplay I guess. »

« Oh my god. This game is BIN MATERIAL. Do not buy this game. It is THE worst controlling game I've ever played. To say the least, these motion controls are abysmal and they severely drag the game down. Can't even use the nunchuk's control stick. Even when you have 50 unique minigames to play, the different uses of motion controls that can be confusing and mostly untrustworthy make these minigames unplayable. Believe me when I say this, this game has no redeeming qualities. The boss battles are the WORST aspect of the entire game. The quality of the camera view are brought down to a canyon, plus a lot of the bosses are frustrating, even without the change in quality to the camera. They have no right to exist, and neither does this game due to the worst controls I've ever seen, plus a lack of spohistication, no redeeming value, the story being a ripoff of Super Monkey Ball 2, and this game is literally Sega's WORST game, even worse than crap like Sonic Boom.
