Steins;Gate is a Japanese visual novel developed by 5pb. and Nitroplus. It is the second game in the Science Adventure series following Chaos;Head. The game is described by the development team as a "hypothetical science ADV" and explores time and time travel in 2010 Akihabara. The gameplay follows non-linear plot lines which offer branching scenarios with courses of interaction.

The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara and is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

Steins;Gate (シュタインズ・ゲート, Shutainzu Gēto) est un visual novel japonais développé par 5pb. et Nitroplus appartenant à la série de visual novels Science Adventure, commercialisé à partir du 15 octobre 2009 au Japon sur Xbox 360. C'est la deuxième fois que ces deux sociétés ont collaboré, après Chaos;Head NoAH et avant Robotics;Notes. Il a ensuite été porté sur Windows le 26 août 2010, sur PlayStation Portable le 23 juin 2011, sur iOS le 25 août 2011, sur PlayStation 3 le 24 mai 2012, sur PlayStation Vita le 14 mars 2013 et sur Android le 27 juin 2013. Le jeu est décrit par l'équipe de développement comme étant un « jeu d'aventure et de science hypothétique » (想定科学 ADV, Sōtei Kagaku ADV). Le designer du jeu n'est autre que Huke, le créateur de Black Rock Shooter, un personnage bien connu des fans de Vocaloid. Plusieurs jeux vidéo faisant suite au jeu original ont également été commercialisés.
