Soma
Description (IGDB)
SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from Frictional Games, the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. It is an unsettling story about identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human. Enter the world of SOMA and face horrors buried deep beneath the ocean waves. Delve through locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the truth behind the chaos. Seek out the last remaining inhabitants and take part in the events that will ultimately shape the fate of the station. But be careful, danger lurks in every corner: corrupted humans, twisted creatures, insane robots, and even an inscrutable omnipresent A.I. You will need to figure out how to deal with each one of them. Just remember there’s no fighting back, either you outsmart your enemies or you get ready to run.

Description Steam (Français)

This game changed my life and became my favorite sci-fy adventure ever. The story left me speechless, the monsters are as scary as a monster should be in this kind of game. The characters you're following throught all the game are all intereseting an...

That's a bummer: Frictional's Soma follow-up Ontos has been delayed into 2027
To be truthful, these days it's generally surprising when a game isn't delayed these days, whether that be for a month, months, or even a full year. But perhaps in a year like this one, where a certain game that promises to engulf every other game around it like that black hole it truly is is due for release in November, you can't blame a studio opting to delay to get things in ship shape. Which is exactly what Frictional are doing with Ontos, pushing their next game from this year into 2027. Read more

Frictional Mod Jam 2026 - WHAT IS REALITY?
Things stop lining up. Systems behave, but not quite the way you expect. You start to question whether what you’re looking at is actually there, or just convincing enough. We’re announcing the Frictional Mod Jam 2026: WHAT IS REALITY?This year’s theme is about digging into perception and uncertainty. Inspired by SOMA and the Dark World from Amnesia. We’re craving experiences that play with what’s real, what isn’t, and how sometimes you can’t tell the difference. This can mean a lot of things - subtle inconsistencies, shifting rules, unreliable worlds, or something more psychedelic and abstract. There’s no strict interpretation. The idea is to explore worlds and storytelling that make the player pause and reconsider WTF is going on. Can be gritty sci-fi, bunkers, or fantasy. Get weird with it.The jam will run over the summer and is focused on HPL modding. You can join in solo or in a small team (up to 4 people). If you’re looking for feedback or just want to talk things through, the Discord server. is open. The winner will receive One ROG Xbox Ally from our friends at ASUS ROGThe winner(s) will also receive Steam-keys to ONTOS upon launch. This Frictional Fan Jam is specifically for HPL modding. Avis des critiques et joueurs
Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« All in all, SOMA is a fantastic game. From the detailed world in which it takes place, the engaging plot, and the perfect amount of creeping terror and suspense, there’s a lot to love if you’re into horror. »
« SOMA surpassed my expectations of what a psychological science-fiction horror story could be. »
« SOMA is not the horror game I expected out of Frictional, but I don’t care and it doesn’t matter. This is an excellent work of science fiction, not necessarily unique but uniquely told through its skillful use of video game conceits. It’s System Shock 2 for a modern sensibility, BioShock freed of its AAA chains. It’s damn good and, for my money, the most cohesive and ambitious game Frictional’s made so far. »
« As with any thoughtful storytelling, Soma works on multiple levels. »
« One of the best sci-fi stories I’ve ever experienced in a videogame and one that can get under your skin. »
« SOMA is one of those once-in-a-generation experiences that so wildly defies both expectation and assumptions that I can say with confidence that it will forever impact how we define video games. »
« Actually, SOMA is simply one of the best horror games on the market. »
« SOMA is an intelligent, enjoyable adventure. I like it a lot. [Oct 2015] »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« When it comes to horror games, I either love them or hate them. I think you can guess where this one landed. »
« SOMA is one of the few games that managed to surpass it's high expectations. Frictional Game's magnum opus is dramatic, emotional, contemplative, and uniquely depressing. Rarely has a game gripped me from start to finish, and left me wanting for more. »
« To start i just want to say that this game is weird. I keep play and drop it yet i still feel it has something to offer, i couldn't bring myself to drop and delete it. The game the story that focus on conscious and life are really interesting. The horror gameplay enhance your immersion and that is amazing despite I'm not a fan of horror that why i have a hard time playing this game. I cant really say anything bad about this game except it was exhausting just trying to sink everything in. Overall, what a trip. »
« cringy speaking character "oh there's blood on my face because my brain bleeds sometimes" and clunky walking sim controls. Feels like bad indie writing that wants to be profound »
« You know that sensation when you finish a game and you're, like, "Damn". Well, that's what happened to me when I finished this masterpiece. »
« This game really makes you think on what it means to be human. It's not the scariest horror I've played but it's definitely the one with the best story also the acting especially by Jared Zeus was simply amazing. »
