Description (IGDB)

The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, an unlikely hero must journey to find his courage and confront a dark nemesis to save his home. Ori and the Blind Forest tells the tale of a young orphan destined for heroics, through a visually stunning action-platformer crafted by Moon Studios for Xbox One and PC. Featuring hand-painted artwork, meticulously animated character performance, and a fully orchestrated score, Ori and the Blind Forest explores a deeply emotional story about love and sacrifice, and the hope that exists in us all.

Histoire (IGDB)

Ori, the protagonist of the game, falls from the Spirit Tree and is adopted by Naru, who raises Ori as her own. When a disastrous event occurs causing the forest to wither and Naru to die, Ori is left to explore the forest. Ori eventually encounters Sein, who begins to guide Ori on an adventure to restore the forest through the recovery of the light of three main elements supporting the balance of the forest: waters, winds and warmth.

J'ai acquis un Steam deck d'occasion récemment, j'ai voulu tester ma machine est franchement ça tourne du feu de dieu. Ayant déjà fini la version définitive édition il y a longtemps je peu dire que la version original est déjà très bien optimisé. Vu...

Don’t expect Ori 3 anytime soon, as devs say they’ll be working on No Rest for the Wicked for up to a decade

If you’re holding out hope for another Ori and the Blind Forest sequel after Will of the Wisps, bad news: it’s probably going to be a while. Developers Moon Studios have said they’re all-in on Soulslike action-RPG No Rest for the Wicked, suggesting that their “magnum opus” will be their focus for up to a decade. Read more

Former Xbox console exclusive, Ori and the Blind Forest, saved Moon Studios from bankruptcy

Former Xbox console exclusive Ori and the Blind Forest looks to have saved Moon Studios from bankruptcy, according to Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler. The 2D platformer, which has sold "around 10 million copies" according to Mahler, has since gone on to warrant a sequel and ports to Nintendo Switch and PC in the nine years since its launch. "If Blind Forest would have flopped back then, we would’ve been bankrupt as a studio," stated Mahler on X (formerly known as Twitter). "But thank god it didn’t - we sold around 10m copies of Ori so far, which probably makes it the most successful Metroidvania series ever made." It's obviously been a while since Ori and the Blind Forest first came out. The game would be met with critical acclaim and prove itself to be one of the more exciting games in Microsoft's arsenal during the ill-fated Xbox One era. Following this, Moon studios would follow up on this success with the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Again, a game embraced by general audiences and critics alike. Read more

Moon Studios dev says if Ori was its "Mario," its next game is its "Zelda"

Moon Studios, developer behind Ori and the Blind Forest, is working on a new game, with the studio's creative director saying it's like its "Zelda." Coming up to a decade ago now, Moon Studios released its first title, Ori and the Blind forest, a Metroidvania that was instantly well received by critics and fans, going on to release a sequel in 2020, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Earlier this week, Moon Studios creative director Thomas Mahler touched on the developer's next game, an action RPG, where he compared Ori to Mario, and the next title to Zelda. "Ori was our 'Mario,' this is our 'Zelda,'" Mahler wrote on his personal Twitter account. "That was my first thought when I first started prototyping our new project back in 2015. We then committed to Wisps, which allowed us to give this project more time in the oven so that we'd then be able to turn it into a full-blown ARPG." Read more

« Without question it's the best game Microsoft has published since the onset of the Xbox One era and one that's pleasingly, satisfyingly easy to recommend. »

LEVEL (Czech Republic) 100/100

« Even the greatest cynic will be touched by this brilliant platformer. Difficulty setting is missing here and you found this quite challenging even unmerciful. Considering the whole game this small flaw can be forgiven. [Issue#251] »

« Um jogo muito divertido e agradável de jogar. A gameplay é muito boa, principalmente pelas mecânicas que vão sendo desbloqueadas aos poucos e deixando a movimentação cada vez mais satisfatória. A história é simples e bonitinha, nada muito profundo ou revolucionário, mas funciona muito bem dentro da proposta e é legal de acompanhar. A direção artística e a trilha sonora ajudam bastante na vibe do jogo. »

« played it in Nintendo switch2, it was a great game but it was short, i really really enjoyed it, keep making these games you have our full support, thx »

« Ori and the Blind Forest is a game that is always regarded as one of the best in the Metroidvania platformer genre, and it’s easy to see why. I was hooked by this games heart wrenching opening cutscene and enthralled by its gorgeous art direction and simple, yet affective narrative. The platforming here is challenging, fun, and has satisfying mechanics to boot. It even has these incredible escape sequences that are some of the best parts of the game. All of this is also complemented by Ori’s beautiful soundtrack, which, while not as good as its sequel, is still really strong on its own. As for my main issue with the game, it’s the enemy types, as this game seriously lacks strong enemy variety. Every area in the game has enemy types that are inherently the same, but they’re a different element and deal more damage, though that doesn’t make up for them being way too similar to the previous enemies in other areas who are basically the same. Everyone has an issue with this, but yeah, Blind Forest also lacks combat depth. I personally don’t think the combat is as bad as some make it out to be, but it still lacks a level of depth that would make enemy encounters more interesting. There are also some other minor gripes I have with this title like the escape sequences, as amazing as they are, can be a bit frustrating due to their lack of checkpoints, the one snow area in the game that kinda ****, and hitting environmental hazards not putting you in a safe spot as Hollow Knight does. Regardless, these issues cannot take away everything this game nails, and I’m so happy I got to experience it. »

« Loved playing this game. My first foray into “medtroidvania” platformer genre of game. Fun, challenging for a new gamer, while not being too too difficult. »

micromango 10/10

« Good for the people who enjoy these types of games. Like Hollow Knight although not as good but still great »

« Une expérience globalement satisfaisante. J’ai passé un bon moment du début à la fin. »
