Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Description (IGDB)
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is a 2009 platform game developed by High Impact Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game is the sixth and final game in the Jak and Daxter series. The player assumes the role of Jak, the angst-ridden hero enhanced by his exposure to Light and Dark Eco. When their world begins to run out of Eco, Jak and Keira travel to the edge of the world in search of the ancient Precursor machinery that could reverse the planet's decline. They're not the only interested factions out on the Brink, however; Jak must contend with Sky Pirates while struggling to control his own Eco powers.
Histoire (IGDB)
Amidst an eco storm, Sky Pirates ambush the Hellcat, forcing Jak to fend off the attackers who rappel onto their ship via a large pirate ship, the Phantom Blade. Keira manages to cause one pirate to fall from the ship, while Jak has engaged into a fistfight with the other, known as Captain Phoenix. Jak loses and tries to turn into Dark Jak, though fails to do so due to the eco instability, subsequently dealing him great pain. Phoenix witnesses Jak's attempt to transform, stating there are more people like Jak and prepares to shoot to kill him. At this point Daxter manages to run Phoenix off by shooting at him with the Hellcat's tailgun, but also shoots their own ship, causing a fuel leak, forcing Keira to crash land on to Brink Island.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is an action-packed platforming romp that punches above its weight and connects effortlessly. A Christmas must-have for young and old gamers alike. »
« Despite its few issues, The Lost Frontier is yet another gratifying Jak and Daxter game that feels right at home on the PSP. While we could have done without the Dark Daxter moments in the game, flying the unfriendly skies and exploring the impressive Lost Frontier is more than enough reason to pick this one up right away. »
« Well worth a place in your collection as one of the best platformers on the PSP, it is classic Jak and Daxter with some great aerial combat thrown in. »
« The comeback of the funny duo. The gameplay is pretty much the same as the PlayStation 2 games, but with new features like flying. You can also play with Daxter when he’s transformed into the Dark Daxter. This game is a good PSP game, but the controls could have been better and the game is pretty short. »
« Value-wise, The Lost Frontier is definitely worth the $40 MSRP given the overall length and variety. Had High Impact included multiplayer dog fighting…it would have been a must-buy. »
« Another brilliant PSP release. [Feb 2010, p.76] »
« Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier provides the true sequel to this beloved series that fans have been waiting for. The game is a high mark for PSP platform games and it really shows off just how much graphical performance a developer can get out of the handheld. »
« One of the good franchises on the PlayStation hits the PSP – great graphics, a fantastic airship campaign and lots of jokes are included. You better don‘t miss it, because you won‘t get many games out there that are better than this one. »

« Not as good as the original trilogy, but at least builds some on the franchise with airplane exploration and combat. The game also has interesting mechanics that were built over dark eco (and gets completely replace for Jak). Daxter gets new dark eco abilities. Also while the game starts looking a bit rough in the graphics department due to low-poly LOD background landscape, as the game continues on the graphics hold pretty well, while still not as immersive as the original trilogy. As a PSP game I think this is long enough and done well enough to be accepted in the franchise. But for a PS2 game it probably would look very dated and I'd imagine I'd throw in a lower score. TLDR: Lives up to the franchise on PSP, not as good but has enough heart to enjoy it. »
« Controls not nearly as well as the previous games. The upgrade syatem is decent. Dark Daxter feels pointless & those levels can drag on. Planes are a decent idea but take up too much time. Sides missions are just the same missions but more more difficult each time. Tym is a decent character. Powers are cool to use. »
« Muito bom um dos melhores jak and daxter the lost frontier que já joguei para os haver que não gosta da história é muito divertido e cativante o jogo desde do início até o fim do jogo »
« Airplane combat is fun and innovative, everything else is a disgrace. Story and characters and lore butchered. »
« I am not done with you Sony. The PS4 version of this game is also available on PS Plus Premium. So that entitles me to review this game one more time. It's so boring and repetitive. The characters are annoying and this is just your typical PSP game. This garbage is inferior to the Jak games on the PS2 and this is probably the worst of the series. I understand that the PSP was weaker than the PS2, but that is exactly why Sony shouldn't price these games the same as the PS2. It is a joke and just goes to show how greedy these developers are. ● I am going to have to change the rules for how I approach these cross-gen reviews, because there are way too many games that are still cross-gen. Listen up devs, you are only going to get a cross-gen review from me if your game is full-priced at launch which is $60 or above. If your game is under $60, you are exempt from getting a double review from me, even if I am entitled to review it again. The reason why I will keep this rule for $60-70 games is because I expect these devs to give me top-notch AAA quality by taking advantage of the PS5 hardware. The first 2 years of a console generation are usually the tech demo stages, so cross-gen didn't bother me. Due to the events of 2020 and "work from home" situation, I can give the 3rd year a pass for cross-gen in the PS5. But now we're in the 4th freaking year, it's time to drop the PS4 generation already. It's not that I am fully against cross-gen, but lazy developers these days rarely (or never) take full advantage of current gen hardware if they work on a last gen version simultaneously. ● P.S. Metacritic, I warned your mods. I said if they dare delete another review, I'm posting it over and over again. Oh what, you thought you were going to get away with it? I knew exactly which reviews you were going to delete. You're so freaking predictable, that I knew which reviews you weren't going to delete, meaning you read my reviews word for word. Do me a favor, grab all your stupid toys and throw them in the trash can. As long as you have those stupid toys, you will never be able to fool me. Toy-collecting millennials are the most predictable people on the planet. As I said before, I will keep reposting my reviews, like it or not. I set my limits on what I won't say in my reviews, because I do have to follow the rules. But whatever other users and critics (I'm only talking about the critics' short conclusion on Metacritic) are allowed to say, I'm allowed to say that too, plain and simple. You got a problem with that? Deal with it. I'm not stopping until I get what I want. »
« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »
« Actually, I have no idea what to say. The game is good and bad at the same time. Not bad music, bosses became more difficult, but... it's just not that old Jak game, which we knew. »
