Description Steam (Français)

Death Crown - Small Update

Hello, Death Warriors! We have unexpectedly released a small update for Death Crown. The main change is that you can now switch between the monochrome and color versions of the game directly in the settings. Please note that this option can only be changed from the main menu. This change also allowed us to significantly reduce the game’s disk size, making Death Crown a little lighter without taking away any of its grim spirit.Alongside that, we fixed a number of small bugs and made a few minor polish improvements to help Death Crown run a little more smoothly. As always, thank you for continuing to play Death Crown and supporting the game after all these years. Your loyalty to the crown truly means a lot to us.Death Crown Team

VI

Hear me, Death Warriors. The sixth circle of time has passed, and once again the memory of Death Crown rises. On this day, we, the keepers of the crown, bring you a new gift. Not an illusion, not a jest, but a true transformation: the black-and-white world has been stained with color.Since ancient times, whispers of the crowd branded the game: “its lines make eyes bleed.” I never heeded such words, yet a spark of curiosity long burned within me: what would become of the crown if color seeped into its darkness? We unearthed the old scrolls, the sprite sheets that slumbered in the vault of the game itself. I laid upon them the palette of Loop Hero, a treasure I revere, and began the ritual of recoloring. Sprite after sprite, for the original sources, once forged in Photoshop and stranger tools, were lost, and the remnants had crumbled to dust.Later, while shaping Era of Humans, I mastered another instrument, Aseprite, where layers and timelines stand like magical seals. With its aid, many images surrendered to recoloring more easily than in the beginning.Yet I confess: the result did not lift my heart. For the crown was born in the twilight of two colors, and new shades often broke its weave. Do not take this as canon, but as an experiment, an unanswered question, a scar between worlds: what if?During development, we chose to separate the colored and classic versions into different builds. However, all saves, achievements, and other progress remain shared, so your victories will carry equal weight in both worlds. Our programmer worked especially hard on this, making sure the transition between versions would be smooth and effortless for you. To enter the colored realm, simply select the corresponding option when launching the game. Know this: in the true realm of Death Crown there are no colors. Only the white of the wastes and the black of the shadows. Only within this two-toned abyss does its essence truly awaken. And now, once each year, we, the keepers, gather again to leave you a sign.May victory be yours, Death Warriors

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32296087/e163560b8b2f2b9ede6d3102b7c650a4cf7fbdde.png Greetings, Death Warriors! Another year has passed, and our ranks continue to grow, which is something that brings us great joy. For five years now, you've been supporting us, and we strive to return the favor. This game will always hold a special place in our hearts. Death Crown was our first game, one into which we truly poured our souls. We hope you share our sentiments. Although the time of active support for the game is long behind us, we still try to find time each year to bring you some small delights. This year, we've prepared a few small, but hopefully pleasant, updates. 1. We've added a demo version on Steam (thanks to Valve for finally making demos more visible). Unlike the previous demo on itch.io, we've included a boss battle. So, if you have any hesitant relatives, friends, acquaintances, or any other people who are important to you and unsure whether Death Crown is worth their time, make sure to show them our demo. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32296087/f0d5db9d6790f83afbd1c97e68361f3770183974.png 2. We've also added animated avatars, stickers, and backgrounds featuring your favorite Death Crown characters. You can purchase them in the Steam Point Shop. Taunt your enemies in online games by setting a laughing king as your avatar, showing them just how superior you are. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32296087/d5cf1455327b4a6e5b4b938dcb6f238858020760.gif We find ourselves increasingly returning to thoughts of a Death Crown continuation, pondering what it might be. A sequel or a prequel? Will it remain an RTS, or will the game change genres? Will it retain its black-and-white aesthetic, or will we introduce color while keeping the grim atmosphere? Will it stay in pixel art, or will we go 3D? What new features will we add, and which ones will we remove? We have so many ideas, and the urge to return to Death Crown and surprise you with something new and stylish grows stronger. I don't want to raise anyone's hopes too high, but I also don't want you to write us off. Death Crown has never been about commercial success—we never had a meticulously planned marketing campaign or anything of the sort. Everything we did and continue to do comes from the heart. That's why your support is so important. Every mention of the game, review, piece of art, tweet, and, of course, purchase of the game brings the next Death Crown game closer. We would also love to hear your thoughts and wishes regarding the continuation—what would you like to see in the next chapter of Death Crown? Your feedback will help shape the future of this world.

GameCritics 85/100

« With so much emphasis on the despair-drenched visuals, one might assume that Death Crown is a case of style over substance, but that’s just not true – the gameplay is frantic and gripping, and the developers’ ability to cut away anything except what needs to be here is admirable. The fact that it looks absolutely f**king metal is just icing on the cake. »

TheXboxHub 80/100

« Death Crown has style and originality pumping through its disgusting veins, and it’s not often that you get to say that about a real-time strategy game. Often the most clinical and militaristic of genres, Death Crown is ghoulish and characterful. Hell, the world-building is probably worth a recommendation on its own. »
