Sega Enterprises, Inc. (USA)
Sega Enterprises, Inc. (USA), colloquially known as Sega Enterprises USA (SEU) was an American subsidiary of Sega Enterprises, Ltd.. It was founded in 1985 to handle North American sales and distribution of Sega's arcade games. This is the second incarnation of a "Sega Enterprises, Inc."; the first attempt (also known as SEI) had its manufacturing facilities absorbed into Bally Manufacturing in 1984. SEU was one of two major Sega companies to operate in North America, the other being Sega of America, established in 1986 to handle home consumer products (such as the Sega Master System). Both were subsidiaries of the Japanese operation and reported independently, though frequently worked together on projects as part of the wider Sega group. SEU is thought to have manufactured and assembled arcade games in the US, but the majority of video game research and development occured in Japan. It did, however, license some products developed by third parties, selling them under the Sega banner. SEU briefly lost control over North American arcade sales after the formation of Sega GameWorks in March 1996, though would continue manufacturing and operations in Latin America. Control of North American sales would be transferred back in August 1998. SEU and Sega of America's co-existence came to an end in 2008, when the two companies were merged.

Midway Manufacturing
Midway Manufacturing was founded in 1958 in Chicago as a manufacturer of arcade amusement games. The company was purchased by pinball manucaturer Bally in 1969. Midway was among the earliest companies to enter the video game market, producing their first game Winner in 1973 during the Pong arcade boom. Aside from a few early clones the company mostly relied on imports, contractors and other Bally-owned subsidiaries, such as Dave Nutting Associates, for designing their games. An internal team was established circa 1980-1981; their first game was Kick-Man, released in 1981. In 1982 the company became Bally-Midway after Bally merged its pinball division into Midway.
Apogee Software
Apogee Software is a video game publisher based in Aalborg, Denmark. Scott Miller founded the company in his parents' home in Garland, Texas, in 1987 as Apogee Software Productions to release his game Kingdom of Kroz. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company popularized a distribution model where each game consists of three episodes, with the first given away free as shareware and the other two available for purchase. Duke Nukem was a major franchise created by Apogee to use this model, and Apogee published Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D the same way. Apogee began using the brand name 3D Realms for its 3D games in 1994, and in 1996 rebranded the company itself to 3D Realms to focus on traditionally-published 3D titles. Duke Nukem 3D (1996) was released under this name to great success. 3D Realms largely ceased its publishing and development operations afterwards to focus on two extensively delayed games: Prey (2006), which was under development until being taken over by another studio in 2001, and Duke Nukem Forever (2011), which remained under development until 2009. The "Apogee Software" name, library, and logo were licensed to Terry Nagy in 2008, who established Apogee Software LLC to develop and publish ports and spinoffs of Apogee titles.
