First Star Software
First Star Software, Inc. was a Chappaqua, New York based video game development, publishing and licensing company, founded by Richard Spitalny (who remains the company's president), Billy Blake, Peter Jablon, and Fernando Herrera in 1982. It is best known for the series Boulder Dash, which began on the Atari 8-bit family, and Spy vs. Spy, which first appeared on the Commodore 64. Games were ported to or written for home computers, consoles, and later for Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, and portable devices. Millions of units have been sold in both the Boulder Dash and Spy vs. Spy series of games. As of January 1, 2018 the First Star Software name and website are owned by BBG Entertainment GmbH which also purchased all intellectual property rights pertaining to Astro Chase, BOiNG!, Boulder Dash, Bristles, Flip & Flop, Millennium Warriors, Omnicron Conspiracy, Panic Button, Rent Wars and Security Alert.

In the midst of releasing The Walking Dead: The Final Season, the company was forced to initiate a "majority studio closure" after their last investor had pulled out of funding. Telltale announced on September 21, 2018, that it had let go of all but 25 of its staff as part of this closure, with the remaining skeleton crew completing specific obligations, such as finishing the Minecraft: Story Mode project porting to Netflix. Telltale Games filed for assignment in October 2018.

Spil Games was a Dutch video game developer based in Hilversum. In 2012, it was reported that Spil Games' U.S.-based tween girl GirlsGoGames.com was one of the top websites that U.S. girls visited when online. Girls most frequently played games that involved cooking, dress-up, and quizzes. The most popular game girls played on GirlsGoGames.com was Pet Party. In total, Spil Games expanded its segmented and localized approach with more than 50 websites where people can play games online in 20 languages. 80% of its games are from third-party developers, as of 2012. This reaches a large audience of 190 million monthly users on average. In September 2014, the company reorganised, closing its Dutch development studio and concentrating on mobile game publishing.

The distributor, BadLandGames S.L., was founded in July 2011. BadLand Games Publishing is a publishing label for independent games launched by the Spanish company BadLandGames S.L. in July 2017. BadLand Games' head office was in Madrid, Spain. Their last website went down in early 2022 and they became defunct after October 2022. *** About BadLand Games: BadLand Games is a Spanish independent company specialized in the physical distribution of video games. Foudned in 2011, it distributes games for all platforms and counts important titles like the official video game of “La Voz”, the praised Telltale Games titles “The Walking Dead” and “The Wolf Among Us”, the franchises “Farming Simulator” and “Pro Cycling Manager”, “Blood Bowl 2” and more among its extensive catalogue.
