Heuristic Software Corporation is a software company founded by Puerto Rican chess player Julio Kaplan, a former World Junior Chess Champion, as well as an International Master (IM) as designated by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE). the company is notable for developing the computer chess programs Socrates & Socrates II (first developed as Heuristic Alpha in 1990).
